At least four people, including one BGB and two police members, were injured when a clash erupted between pro-opposition strikers and law enforcers on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Sitakundu in Chittagong at around 1pm on Wednesday.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah said when the law enforcers went to disperse the opposition strikers trying to enforce the blockade, crude bombs were hurled at them.
In the clash BGB members Lutfor Rahman, SI Mizan, SI Anwar and a boy received bullet injuries, he said. The boy was not immediately identified.
The opposition activists said 15 of their number were injured in the clash.
In another incident, DB inspector Kamruzzaman was critically injured when pickets attacked him on his way to Colonel Haat from Citygate at around 2:30pm on Wednesday.
Earlier in the Citygate area, which is at the entrance to Chittagong city, the pickets torched five police motorcycles and vandalised a police box in the area.
The pickets hurled crude bombs and bricks.
Police used tear gas shells and rubber bullets to disperse the mob.
