Officials shot down rumours over the disruption of the submarine cable in Cox’s Bazar saying the news was a hoax, on Sunday.
Earlier, a private television channel reported supporters of Islami Chhatra Shibir had severed the cable during a 48-hour blockade of the BNP-led 18-party alliance.
However, there was no reported incident of internet disruption.
Cox’s Bazar police Additional Superintendent Tofayel Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune: “We visited Kolatoli area where the lines are. But, everything is normal.”
No disruption was confirmed with Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited, he added. The rumour was a hoax.
