Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has rescued 771 women and children from human traffickers and seized goods worth of Taka 489.37 crore in the last ten months.
The BGB members rescued 620 women and 151 children while they were being trafficked out of the country, especially to neighbouring India, and arrested 15 alleged traffickers in the process, reports BSS>
A total of 382 cases have been filed from January 1 to October 31 of this year.
The paramilitary troops arrested 1,373 people on charges of involvement with smuggling and filed 22,013 cases against them.
The BGB also recovered large amount of smuggled goods, including illegal drugs, worth about Tk489.37 crore during the period.
According to a BGB handout, a total of 114 cases were filed with different police stations across the country, especially frontier districts, in this regard.
Besides, they seized 4,67,759 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, 5,18,401 sex-stimulating Yaba tablets, 1,45,837 bottles of foreign liquor, 5,721 litres of local liquour, 10,982 cans of beer, 4,385 kgs of hemp, 34.768 kg of heroin and 41,914 different types of injections.
Of the smuggled goods, contrabands worth about Tk 445.95 crore were seized while being smuggled into the country and goods worth about Tk 43.41 crore while being smuggled out of the country.
