Activists of Awami League and its associate bodies formed a human chain in front of the office of the police super, demanding removal of officer-in-charge of Sonargaon police station, citing the filing of ‘false’ cases against some ruling party leaders.
Activists of Sonargaon upazila unit Awami League, Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League formed the human chain in the morning, demanding removal of Atikur Rahman.
Speaking on the occasion, ruling party leaders alleged that OC Atikur Rahman filed ‘false’ cases against some of their leaders after taking bribe from BNP leader Badli Mannan.
Later, they submitted a memorandum containing their demand to the SP.
Contacted, the OC said a case was filed against some ruling party men in connection with a clash in the upazila, claiming that they tried to divert the issue into another direction.
SP Sazzadur Rahman said they will investigate the matter.
