Hartal victim loses battle for life

Yet another victim of the mindless hartal violence succumbed after days of battling death at a Dhaka hospital in the early hours of Saturday.

CNG auto-rickshaw driver Asadul Gazi, 40, breathed his last around 1am, Dhaka Medical College Hospital residential surgeon Partha Shankar Pal said.

Gazi was driving two passengers to Nabinagar, Savar, when shutdown supporters pounced and set the vehicle on fire on November 3 ahead of a 60-hour hartal.

Locals first rushed the trio to Savar Gono Sastha Complex before they were taken to DMCH.

Hartals, called by the main opposition alliance because of a political standoff over the upcoming elections, have already claimed the lives of many innocents.
