Thousands of passengers got stranded on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Thursday morning as a 30-km long tailback was created on the highway due to huge traffic flow.
Police said vehicular movement came to a halt from Paduar Bazar in Sadar South upazila to Madhaiya in Chandina upazila on the highway from 3am due to pressure of several thousand vehicles, reports UNB.
Police also said the rise in number of vehicles on the highway after four days of hartal and reckless driving caused the tailback on the highway.
Additional police were deployed on and around the highway to tackle the situation as the tailback still continued while filing this report at 10:30am.
