The Cabinet Division is yet to get the resignation letters of the minister, says Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.
He said, “Although the ministers have submitted their resignation letters to the prime minister, the Cabinet Division has yet to receive them.”
The cabinet secretary disclosed this information while talking to journalists at his office on Wednesday.
He said, “We will send the resignation letters after they are approved by the prime minister, once we get them back we will send them to the President for final approval.
The entire resignation process will be completed once the decision of the President comes,” he added.
Referring to a cabinet meeting that is scheduled to be held on Sunday, he said: “Regular cabinet meetings usually take place on Monday, but this time it will be held on Sunday around 10am.”
Replying to a query whether the outgoing ministers would join the meeting, he said, “We do not have any idea about it.”
All ministers submitted their resignation letters to the prime minister on Monday without mentioning their resignation date.
Law Minister Shafique Ahmed on Tuesday told reporters in his office that the offices of the ministers were not vacant yet as they had not submitted their resignation as per the constitution.
On the other hand, the resignation procedure of the ministers followed the course of constitution, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu asserted on Tuesday.
There is no scope for a debate over the issue, he said speaking to reporters at his ministry. “Anyone with a different opinion can take the matter to court.”
