Miscreants cut off railway track in Bogra

Train links between Bogra and Shantaher resumed eight hours after miscreants cut off nearly four metres of the corresponding rail tracks in Bogra early Monday.

Bogra sadar Police Station and Railway police sources said the incident occurred in the early hours of the second day of the 18-party alliance’s 84-hour-long nationwide hartal.

Sub-Assistant Engineer of the department Md Afzal Hossain filed a case with Bonarpara Railway police station in Gaibhandha in the afternoon, accusing at least 15-to-16 unidentified individuals for the incident.

Railway police station Officer-In-charge (OC) Md Saidur Rahman said: “The engineer complained that the miscreants had used gas to cut off the rail tracks.”

Bogra Sadar Police Station OC Syed Shahid Alam said: “Local Ansar and VDP troops claimed that some 15 youths, riding on bikes, cut off the tracks in the Shahardighi area at around 12:15am.”

The miscreants used oxyacetylene flame to cut tracks that stretched over four metres, he said.

Later, railway communications resumed after eight hours of the incident.
