Three members of a family among five were killed and 10 others injured as a covered van hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw and a motorbike at Tipra bazaar near Comilla Cantonment on Saturday afternoon.
Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Moinamoti highway police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that the number of deaths can be increased.
Of the deceased, four have been identified as Roksana, her sister Farzana, Farzana’s husband Arif Hossain, and Nazrul.
The identity of another deceased could not be confirmed yet.
Witnesses said a covered van hit an auto rickshaw and a motorbike one after another as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving five people dead on the spot around 5:30pm.
The injured have been hospitalised.
