Himadri Shekhor Talukder will present songs by Tagore at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in Gulshan today(Saturday) at 6:30pm. The event is organised by the IGCC in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh. The event is open for all and entry is free.
Talukder’s devotion and love for Tagore’s songs enabled him to complete his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music with specialisation in Rabindra Sangeet from the Viswa Bharati University in Shantiniketan. Since then, he has performed at prominent musical concerts both in India and Bangladesh such as the Kolkata Bangla Music Festival, Tagore Birth Anniversary celebrations at Rabindrasadan in Kolkata, Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Utsav in Pondicherry, Bishshe Bangalee - A Musical Soiree as part of the 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations at Birla Sadan in Kolkata and many more.
Talukder has also been selected as a representative artist from Bangladesh for the year-long joint celebrations of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore between India and Bangladesh.
He is a regular performer for some Bangladesh TV and Radio, and also for private television channels. He has released two solo and two duet CDs, the first being - Bhule Thake Tomar Gane - by HMV- Saregama, Kolkata.
Talukder is a part time lecturer at the Department of Music (Rabindra Sangeet) at the Shanto Marium University of Creative Technology in Dhaka.
