Decision on JSC, JDC exams Saturday

The authorities will make a decision on Saturday about the Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations scheduled for November 10, 11 and 12, as the 18-party alliance has called a 72-hour shutdown from Sunday.

“The decision on the examinations will be announced on Saturday after consulting with the minister,” Prof Taslima Begum, chairman of Dhaka Education Board, told the Dhaka Tribune Friday afternoon.

She added: “The examinations might be postponed, but no decision has been made yet.”

The JSC and JDC examinations began across the country on Thursday.

The examinations were originally scheduled to begin on Monday.

However the 60-hour countrywide hartal enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance on Sunday forced the authorities to reschedule the examinations.

This year, a total of 1,902,746 students — 1,587,313 from schools and 315,433 from madrasahs — are sitting the examinations from 27,748 institutions.
