Members of Rab, Police and BGB, in Cox’s Bazar, have detained 56 people who were allegedly on their way to Malaysia across the seas.
Law enforcement made most of the arrests on Thursday, from a bus terminal in Cox’s Bazar town, Ukhia, and from the Domdomia BGB Check Post Domdmia in Teknaf.
Of the 56, eight were arrested at in Domdmia, around 9pm in the evening. The arrested came from different places in Dhaka, confirmed Major Shafiqur Rahman of BGB 42 Battalion.
Besides that, a team of Rab-7 arrested 40 people gathered at a bus terminal in Cox’s Bazar. Major Sarwar-e-Alam, in charge of Rab-7 said they were inhabitants of different districts.
Meanwhile, Police arrested 10 Malaysia-bound people from Ukhia on Thursday morning.
Officer in charge of the Ukhia police station, Gias Uddin Mia informed that the arrested were going to gather at the house of a middleman who lives in a village from Shonaichari.
The Malaysia-bound workers, about to board a trawler, were detained with help from the villagers.
