A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Mufti Harun Izharul Islam, son of Hefajat-e Islam nayeb-e-ameer Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury, on a 15- day remand in three cases filed against him in connection with the May 5 Hefazat-e-Islam mayhem in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Erfanullah passed the order after three investigation officers of the three cases sought 40-day remand for the Hefazat-e-Islam leader.
The cases were filed on charge of torching and vandalising vehicles, attacking police and preventing them from discharging duties. Of the three cases, two were filed with Motijheel police station while one with Paltan police station.
