A crude bomb was set off in front of Jatiya Party Presidium Member Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud’s residence at Road 117, Gulshan 1, in the capital on Monday evening.
Confirming the incident, Deputy Commissioner of police of Gulshan division Khandakar Lutfur Kabir Chowdhury said: “The explosion occurred at around 7pm. No one was detained in connection to this.”
Gulshan police station Inspector (investigation) Nur-e-Azam told the Dhaka Tribune that they had yet to find any evidence of cocktail explosions from the scne, but an investigation is underway.
One of our correspondents reported hearing a loud explosion in Gulshan 2 near Road 51. However, Gulshan police said they had rushed to the scene but were unable to find any evidence of the blast.
