NHRC Chief: Disable women more likely to be harassed at their work place

He made the statement at a seminar held at PSC Convention Hall in city's Mirpur area arranged by Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) to observe their 20 years of establishment.
In his speech as the chief guest of the opening ceremony of the three day long seminar, Reazul said as the disable person could not able to express their sorrow in proper way, they were likely to be harassed.
He praised the government to enact several laws in favour of the disables but at the same time he criticised them saying only enacting laws and policies could not help the disabled to be independent.
He said nobody would remain disable, if the authorities made them eligible for work. It's government duty to recognise their talent and make them eligible for job market, he added.
Shaikh A Halim, chairman of CDD, chair the session said it is defficult to determine the number of disable people in the country and it is believed the 10% of the country were disable. The situation could be worse in near future.
Shaheen Anam, executive director of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) said disable people are still subjected to be ignorance at their work place.
She urged the concern authorities of private companies to be considerable to them (disable people) so that certain number of jobs in any private company should be offered to them.
