The district administration imposed section 144 on Nundaha Madrasa ground under Nandigram union parishad of the district town from 6am to 6pm on Wednesday to avert possible clash between two local groups.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abhijeet Roy confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.
“Two groups in Nundaha area always want to say the Eid prayer in the front row on Nundaha Madrasa ground to establish supremacy. Following the incident, the administration had imposed section 144 in the same venue during the previous Eid,” he said.
Section 144 was declared in the area as the two groups could not reach in consensus over the matter, said the UNO.
