A two year old baby girl died allegedly due to wrong treatment at Gazipur’s Kaliganj upazila on Saturday.
The victim was Reshma, daughter of Saiful Islam of Itali village in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj district.
They lived in a rented house belonging to one Badal Mia of Monsurpur village, Kaliganj upazila.
The body was sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj police station, said Saiful Islam had taken his daughter Reshma to a Kaliganj health complex after discovering a tumor on her waist.
But a broker at the hospital convinced Saiful and took him to a nearby medicine shop ‘Akhi Moni Drug House’ at Bangabandhu Bazar at Tomulia union in the afternoon.
Reshma fell unconscious after the medicine shop owner Abdul Baten cut out the tumor. She was rushed to Kaliganj upazila health complex as her condition deteriorated where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Saiful Islam filed a case against Abdul Baten with Kaliganj police station in connection to the incident.
After the incident Abdul Baten went in hiding.
