The Bangladesh Army has carried out another round of high-level reshuffles, appointing Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque as the new Quarter Master General (QMG) at Army Headquarters.
Lt Gen Shaheenul Haque, who previously served as Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), replaces Lieutenant General Md Faizur Rahman, who has been transferred to NDC as its new Commandant, according to army sources.
Commissioned through the 20th BMA Long Course, Lt Gen Shaheenul Haque has held several key appointments during his career.
He served as Chief of General Staff (CGS) and Master General of Ordnance (MGO) at Army Headquarters.
He also commanded the 24th Infantry Division in Chittagong and the 9th Infantry Division in Savar as General Officer Commanding (GOC).
Lt Gen Faizur Rahman, commissioned through the 23rd BMA Long Course, briefly served as Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) prior to his promotion.
He also served as GOC of the 66th Infantry Division in Rangpur.
Other key changes
In a series of additional transfers, Major General Md Nasim Parvez, Commandant of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), has been reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Major General Md Hakimuzzaman, who previously served as Adjutant General, has taken over as Commandant of MIST.
Major General Mohammed Hossain Al Morshed, formerly GOC of the 19th Infantry Division in Ghatail, has been appointed as the new Adjutant General.
He earlier served as Director General of the National Security Intelligence (NSI).
Major General Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, GOC and Area Commander of the 66th Infantry Division, has been reassigned as GOC of the Logistics Area.
He replaces Major General Mostagousur Rahman, who has retired.
The latest reshuffle follows several other top-level changes made after the formation of the new government, including appointments to the positions of Chief of General Staff and Principal Staff Officer.
