A faction of teachers at Dhaka University staged a rally in front of Aparajeyo Bangla on Tuesday morning demanding the execution of the verdicts of all war crimes trials.
The teachers also called for support for the government in implementing the verdicts.
They urged people to deny the parties of war criminals in the next general elections for the sake of the implementation of the war crimes verdicts.
In the rally, MM Akash, an economics professor, said the anti-liberation forces never won and can never win.
“DU teachers have rejected them, and will ever do that in future,” he said.
The president of the Dhaka University Teachers Association, Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, said the government deserved appreciation, as it had first begun the trials. At this time was necessary to ensure the punishment of war criminals as soon as possible, according to their verdicts.
Meanwhile, Maksud Kamal criticised the government for its failure to award the war criminals with due punishment. If the party returned to office in the next term, he urged them to implement the verdict right away.
The rally was also attended by Akteruzzaman, Rahmatullah, Asheem Sarkar, Shibley Rubaitullah, Dr Azizul Haque and Mofizur Rahman, among other teachers.
