A power substation in the capital’s Gulshan was caught by a fire last night leaving all the residences and offices in the area in the dark.
Fire service officials said the fire originated from a nearby transformer at around 11:00pm and later it reached the power substation.
Four units of firefighters from Gulshan, Baridhara, Tejgaon and Badda with their joint efforts put out the fire within half an hour.
However, electric supply in the entire area remained disconnection as of filing the report at 12:50am today.
Witnesses said soon after the power substation, which is located at Road 1 in Gulshan, caught by the fire, electric supply in the surrounding area was disconnected.
They however, confirm whether there was any casualty and the damages at the power substation.
