Seven people were killed and 32 others injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet, Comilla and Bogra districts on Saturday.
In Sylhet, three unidentified people, including a woman, were killed in a head-on collision between two buses on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Teromile area of Balaganj upazila in the afternoon.
Police said a Sylhet-bound bus collided head-on with another bus of Mitali Paribahan bound for Dhaka in the area around 1pm, leaving three passengers dead on the spot and 30 others injured.
The injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Being informed, police went to the spot and seized the two buses from the spot.
In Comilla, three passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed as a bus crashed into the three-wheeler on Dhaka-Chitagong Highway in Burichang upazila in the evening. Two of the deceased were identified as Taibul Haque, 35, and Abdul Bashar, 50.
Sergeant Fazlul Haque of Mynamati Highway Police said the bus of Papia Paribahan ran into the auto-rickshaw at Korpai on the highway in the evening when the victims were going to Nimsar from Chandina bus stand, leaving the trio dead on the spot. Two other people were also injured in the accident.
In Bogra, a security guard was killed when a truck ran him over on Bogra-Natore road in Beragari area of Nandigram upazila in the morning. The deceased was identified as Obaidur Rahman, 35, a security guard of Quality Poultry Feed.
Police said the truck crashed into Obaidur as its driver lost control over the steering after a Rajshahi-bound bus from Bogra hit it from behind around 11:45am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police seized the truck and arrested its driver.
