Shahbagh welcomes verdict

The war crimes tribunal’s verdict in the case against Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury on Tuesday turned the momentous Shahbagh intersection alive as several hundred people, mostly youths, were jubilant in celebrating the capital punishment order.

They gathered at the momentous Shahbagh intersection of the capital since morning to hear the verdict. As soon as the court’s decision reached the spot, they burst into joy and were sharing the feelings with each other. Slogans were chanted in the air while many were seen hugging their near and dear ones.

They later brought out a colourful procession from the intersection and paraded the streets of and around Dhaka University.

Hailing the court verdict, Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarkar said it was once again proved that the anti-liberation forces had no place on the soil of Bangladesh.
