The Vikings went to London early in the week, but the Steelers didn’t fly out until Thursday evening.
One of these teams have to win. Both the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers are entering this game with an 0-3 record. London must be loving this American Football matchup. Both teams have struggled out of the gate, but someone should leave this game with a win.
The Steelers lost big to the Titans, Bengals and Bears at the start of the 2013 campaign, while the Viking’s lost to the Lions in week one and were narrowly defeated by the Bears and Browns in week two and three.
The last time these two teams met was during the 2009 season, with Pittsburgh prevailing 27-17. Both teams have clearly changed, personnel-wise, since then, but the main constants are the teams’ two star players: Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
A loss on Sunday will likely end any chance either team had of making the playoffs but a win could be the launching point to getting the season back on track.
Technically, the Vikings are the home team in this international contest. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season in this contest.
Minnesota will more than likely lean on Peterson and the rest of their running backs, due to the injury of their starting quarterback Christian Ponder, who will be replaced by Matt Cassel. While the Vikings’ concentration will be on their ground attack, the Steelers will have no choice but to try to move the ball through the air. Pittsburgh’s running game is currently 31st in the league because of a putrid offensive line.
