A truck collided head-on with a pickup van in the Chanpur area of Jhenaidah early on Wednesday. One person died on the spot.
Police identified the deceased as Abdar Hossain, 45, from Sailkupa upazila.
Sailkupa Police Station Officer-in-charge Anwar Hossain said Abdar had been returning home in the Jhenaidah-bound pickup when the collision had taken place on Jhenaidah-Kustia Highway around 1pm.
The victim was rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The body is being kept at the hospital.
The truck driver managed to flee.
A case was filed with Silkupa police regarding the matter.
