A group of miscreants took advantage of the garment workers' demonstrations for raised wages, attacking an Ansar camp in Gazipur on Monday morning.
The group broke into the camp located in the Bhogra area around 10:45am and attacked the Ansar troopers.
Gazipur Ansar Commandent Mir Alamgir Hossain said six troopers had been injured.
The miscreants had looted four rifles and ammunition from the camp, he said. “The rifles have been recovered damaged and abandoned in a roadside drain, but 120 rounds of bullets are missing.”
The official did not specify who may have been responsible for the sabotage.
During the time of the incident, labour unrest was underway in Gazipur. Readymade garment workers demonstrated and clashed with police.
