On Monday morning, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 32 people who were attempting to illegally immigrate to Malaysia from Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila.
Teknaf BGB 42 Acting Captain Shafiqur Rahman said the illegal immigrants were held in a drive conducted around 9:30am following a tip-off.
Mohammad Ibrahim, a member of a Myanmar-based human trafficking gang, was among the detained.
The detainees included: four from Jhenaidah, 18 from Narsinghdi, one from Bogra, four from Narayanganj and four from Jessore.
The BGB official said preparations were being made to file a case on the matter with the Myanmar trafficker shown as the chief accused.
