Ashraf Shishir’s upcoming film “Ekti Ordhek Prem-er Golpo,” features the complications of love affairs on the backdrop of urban living in the modern day.
Young actors Imran Emu, Shumona Shoma and Tasmina Katherine Labonno play the lead characters of the movie.
The film’s shooting started this month at the beautiful locations of Cox’s Bazaar with the filming of the songs.
Dhaka Tribune caught up with the enthusiastic director recently. He shares his outlook about the film: “It is a love story, but it does not follow the stereotypical structure where boy meets girl and falls in love. It’s different, it’s new, and the story revolves around the twisted relationship dynamics that is now a part of urban lifestyle in the capital. The film explores both thriller and action in the plot. In short, it encompasses love, sex and drugs which have infected the beauty of living.”
About the title of the film, the director comments: “In the concluding part, the story reveals why it is a ‘half’ love story. I don’t want to disclose the fact right now.”
While asked about his style of filmmaking, Shishir says: “Every director has an idol but it is also important to have his distinct style of making films. I follow the style of the Bengali Indian filmmaker and script writer Ritwik Ghatak. I prefer fewer dialogues with application of more ‘film languages’ in my productions.”
About the commercial features in the film, the director declares: “You cannot pin down a film as ‘art’ or ‘commercial.’ My film gives freedom to express creativity to all casts and crew.”
About the film industry, Shishir comments: “At present, the producers give more emphasis to the glitz and glamour of the story rather than a script, which has the power to sway the audience. Also, the film industry is adopting the style and stories of foreign films, hence, we are losing our originality.”
“We need to focus on our core values and move forward to develop our film industry.”
Produced by Media Aid Bangladesh, the film is expected to release on Valentine’s Day. Another one of Shishir’s film “Gariwala” will be released on the International Children’s Day in November.
