To arrange financial help for the prominent lyricist, bhawiya folk singer and music composer Nurul Islam Zahid, Bhawaiya Gaaner Dol has organised a solo melodious evening titled “Mor Kisher Jibon” presented by Safiul Alam Raja.
Nurul Islam Zahid is critically ill. He has been suffering for a long time from NND.
In association with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the programme will be held on September 17 at the National Music and Dance Auditorium of BSA at 6:30pm.
Zahid has written over 3,500 bhawaiya songs. He also wrote many songs from different genres of folk music, such as, bhawaiya, jari, shari, bhatiyali, marfoti-gaan, murshidi-gaan and a host of others. Under the tutelage of noted composer of the genre Nurul Islam Zahid, Raja has gradually become an accomplished bhawaiya singer.
The director of Bhawaiya Gaaner Dol, Fazlul Haque, will deliver the welcome speech. Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky and Managing Director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor will be present as special guests, while noted cultural personality Nasiruddin Yousuf
will be present as chief guest. Golam Kuddus, advisor of Bhawaiya Gaaner Dol, will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
Exponent Nurul Islam Zahid was born in Kurigram district. He has received Abbas Uddin Padak, Kurigram, Bhawaiya Academy Award, Kurigram, Geedaler Akhra Award and many other awards.
