BNP supporters fight over front row in Rajshahi

Activists and supporters of BNP engaged in a faceoff in Rajshahi's Madrasa ground on Monday, where Khaleda Zia was expected to address a public rally in the afternoon.

However, no reports of injuries were reported, as police was quick to control the situation.

Witnesses said activists of local BNP and Shechwashebak Dal units engaged in an altercation over who will take the front row, leading to a cat-and-mouse chase between the two groups.

Meanwhile, another clash between BNP factions was reported on Sunday night over the construction of a welcoming platform in Dupchachia on Naogaon-Rajshahi Road.

Khaleda Zia was scheduled to leave Bogra and head for Rajshahi through that road.

Dupchuria police station officer-in-charge Riaz Ahmed confirmed the incident but could not specify the groups involved in the chaos.
