The wall of a five-storey building established beside the Day-Tannery Limited in the city’s Hazaribagh area has collapsed on Friday.
However, no causality was reported from the incident.
Sub-Inspector Faruk Hossain of Hazaribagh police station said the wall at the back of the building had collapsed along with the water tank placed at the top around 11am, disrupting all vehicular movement on the road adjacent to the building.
According to sources, a team of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha and Fire Service and Civil Defence visited the spot and ordered immediate demolition of the building.
The local people claimed that the building had eight chemical warehouses which in time might have weakened the infrastructure of the building, causing the collapse of the wall.
