The Anti-Corruption Commission Tuesday filed a case against Bogra district BNP Vice President Kazi Erfanur Rahman Rintu, for concealing information about his assets in his wealth statement.
Faruk Ahmed, deputy director of the district ACC office, filed the case.
ACC sources said, Rintu, who is also the president of the Sariakandi upazila unit of BNP, was given a notice on December 26, 2011 to submit his wealth statement.
On January 12 last year, he submitted his wealth statement to the ACC, which stated that his family and he possessed wealth worth Tk166m.
But an ACC task force found that Rintu had failed to disclose Tk47.5m worth of assets in the statement.
In a separate incident, Bogra police arrested local Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal leader Moniruzzaman Rony, after seizing illegal pistol, two rounds of bullets and other lethal weapons from his possession.
Sources said, officials from the Bogra sadar police station acted on a tip-off and arrested Rony Tuesday morning from Sultanganj area of the city.
