BTRC attending mock spectrum auction for 3G

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BRTC) on Saturday arranged a number of mock auctions at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel ahead of the final auction for 3G spectrum on Sunday morning.

BTRC authorities started the mock auction at about 10am, with a view to prepare themselves for the final auction and test the smooth performance of the software.

Sources said the final mock will be held at 3pm with representatives from the four mobile operators.

“We are fine-tuning and hope it will be as smooth as we expect,” a BTRC source said.

Earlier on Thursday, BTRC arranged another mock auction at its office. But they were not satisfied with the performance of the software. Local firm Amass developed the software.

Four mobile operators Grameenphone, Banglakink, Robi and Airtel will sit in 3G auction and as there are only four licenses, it is certain everybody will be awarded with licenses.
