Derailment halts Dhaka-Ctg-Sylhet-Noakhali rail service for 4 hours

Train service from Dhaka to Chittagong, Sylhet and Noakhali remained suspended for four hours after a freight train derailed near the Daulatkandi rail station in Raipura upazila Wednesday, causing suffering to passengers.

According to the station master of Daulatkandi station, around 7:30am a freight train bound for Dhaka from Chittagong derailed when seven bogies veered off the tracks.

The incident brought train services to a halt for several hours, until a relief train from Akhawra managed to remove the containers.

Rail communications was restored around 11:30am between the capital and the three districts.
