Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet rail communications were restored two hours after five carriages of a container train derailed in Narsinghdi’s Raipura area on Wednesday.
Central control room of Bangladesh Railway Assistant Director of Operation Sayedur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune the lines were restored at around 10:30am.
“One of the lines is open now. The other line will be cleared later.”
Around four trains from Dhaka, Kishoreganj and Comilla were delayed because of the derailment.
It was not clear in initial reports how the train derailed.
