JDC examinees forced to pay extra fees

Parents and guardians of Junior Dakhil Certificate examinees from various madrasas in Kishoreganj were being forced to pay extra fees for the examinations, as the authorities of the institutions ignored the instruction of the education board regarding this matter.

The education board authorities have fixed Tk220, including the centre fees of Tk80, but the madrasa authorities of Kishoreganj were taking Tk400 to Tk800 from each students, as alleged by both students and their guardians.

"The authorities of the madrasa are charging excessive fees, which is too much for poor people like us," claimed Muhammad Ali, a parent of a JDC examinee of Nikli upazila.

Md Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of Mohorkona Ashrafia Dhakil Maadrasa in Nikli, admitted that they charged Tk400 as extra fees and claimed that they were taking the extra money from the students for extra expenditure like computer compose and transport.

Nuruzzaman Habib, Nikli upazila education officer said, "If I get any written complaint from the students or their guardians regarding the extra fees, I will take  necessary actions against the management of the institution concerned according to law."
