Seven policemen were injured in an attack by activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its associate student body Islami Chhatra Shibir at Sandra in Shalikha upazila on Thursday night, reports UNB.
Acting on secret information, a patrol team of police led by Sub-inspector Iqbal Hossain raided Sandra Mosque in the area where a group of Jamaat-Shibir men were holding a clandestine meeting at about 11am.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the Jamat-Shibir men attacked them with sharp weapons and hurled bombs, leaving seven policemen injured. Police fired 10 rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control.
Later they managed to escape from the place hurriedly. Jihadul Kabir, superintendent of police of Magura, said police launched a drive to track down the attackers. A case was filed in this connection.
