Two Bangladeshi girls have returned home from India after completing their three years jail term.
Indian authorities handed over the girls to Bangladeshi authorities at the Benapole check post on Tuesday.
The returnees were Safi Sardar, 14, hailing from Dighalia upazila of Khulna, and Kawsar Begum, 12, hailing from Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Police said a team of Indian police arrested the girls from a house in Bangalore, India three years ago where they were working as domestic aids.
Afterwards, they were sent to an Indian prison where they served three years. Upon completion of their jail term, the girls were later moved to a shelter home.
Indian Petropol police handed over the two girls to Benapole immigration police on Tuesday afternoon.
