Abducted schoolgirl yet to be rescued after 2 months

Urmi has still not been rescued, two months after her abduction.     Urmi Akhtar, 13, a class nine student of the Ushthi Adarsha High School under Gafargoan upazila (sub-district) in Mymensingh was abducted on June 1 this year.   Locals and family members said, Mansur Miah, son of Abul Hossain of the same village used to tease Urmi on her way to school.  Mansur asked her to marry him several times but Urmi rejected his advances. Her refusal angered Mansur.   On June 1, when Urmi went out of her house to go to the bathroom at night, Mansur along with his gang abducted her, alleged family members.  The following day Abdur Rahim, father of the victim, lodged a case against Mansur, his father Abul Hossain, mother Mazeda and sister Hipa Akhtar with the Pagla Police Station    Masud Parvez Rony, brother of the victim, said the accused are moving freely in the area and threatening Urmi’s family members to withdraw the case but the police have not yet taken any action against them.   Md Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station, said Urmi and Mansur had a love affair and they eloped to get married. Mansur was arrested but he was released on bail.   They are trying to rescue the victim and arrest the real abductor, the OC said.
