Two journalists from the private TV channel Independent Television secured three months bail in a case filed by Awami League MP Golam Maula Rony.
The journalists are-- Independent Television reporter Imtiaz Momin Sony and cameraman Mohsin Mukul.
A joint bench of the High Court comprised of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain came up with the order on Tuesday in response to a plea filed by the journalists.
Ruling party MP Golam Maula Rony filed the case for attempting to kill him with Shahbagh police station against the two journalists, Salman F Rahman, one of the owners of the TV channel, and a few others on Saturday night.
He also brought allegations of abduction and extortion against Salman and the two journalists.
Earlier, The TV channel authorities also filed a case with the same police station, against Rony and his cohorts, on charge of an attempt to murder following assaults on the two journalists.
The two journalists were allegedly assaulted by Rony and his cadres at Topkhana Road when they went to the MP’s office to verify some bribery allegations against him.
