Google Business Group (GBG) has worked to build a community that helps and shares understanding and knowledge to help businesses grow. Without exception, GBG Dhaka has the same goal and has helped a lot of new entrepreneurs taste success through adopting simple tools that enable the effective utilisation of online resources, hence operating businesses that are no longer confined to stationed offices but rather a mobile online community that reflects the true meaning of digitisation and information technology.
There are about 95 GBG’s worldwide and above 30 GBG’s in South East Asia (SEA). Since inception, GBG Dhaka has proven its mettle many times over, being announced the number one GBG in the world in Q1 recently at GBG game ranking.
GBG Dhaka has so far organised 14 events focusing on various issues like E-commerce, digital marketing, education and collaboration online, digital mapping, women entrepreneurs, building brands with digital identity and many more.
GBG Dhaka’s main objective is to increase adoption of internet technologies among Bangladeshi companies, plan events and last but not least, build a community that gets to know each other by hosting at least one live event per month.
GBG has a set of unique web tools to manage operations, sales, marketing and above all businesses. Tools like Slideshare, Blogger, Dropbox, Google Drive, Google hangout, Google Calendar, Google +, gmail, Google maps, Google earth, Google translator, mailchimp, Google analytics etc.
On July 9, GBG celebrated their first anniversary at the EMK Centre. The event started with a welcome note by the GBG Managers, Nash Islam, Riyad Hussain and Mirza Salman Hossain Beg followed by a review of its journey, a panel discussion featuring Iraj Islam, Co-founder of Newscred, Kazi Monirul Kabir, Country Consultant of Google Bangladesh, Fayes Taher, CEO of Fortuna Bangladesh discussing future events and network and video presentation about latest google innovations by Anand Tilak, Regional Head, Emerging Markets Google South East Asia.
It was a very interaction session with GBG team showing Google’s latest innovation and use of Google in everyday life and business. Demo videos of Google glass, Google car, Google Crysis Map were shown.
The event was sponsored by Magnito Digital, VC Street and Just Desserts. At the end of the programme, refreshments were served and a cake was cut to celebrate the anniversary. Before adjourning the session, a discussion was held on prioritising and upholding future schemes of GBG, where it was anonymously suggested and decided to take GBG Dhaka nationwide.
