The inaugural IFAD Big Bangla Run International marathon was held more than four months ago on March 1 but winner Mirona Begum has yet to receive her prize money of $1,000.
The other winners in both men’s and women’s marathon have been paid, but Mirona, who took first place in the women’s 10 kilometer run - ahead of Denmark’s Ena Anderson and USA’s Engel Taylor - with a time of 36:55 minutes has yet to receive her due.
“I didn’t get my champions prize money yet. I contacted them many times for my money and their checks even bounced four times. I’m not sure whether I could get my money or not,” said BJMC’s Mirona.
Marketing director of Big Bangla Run Salekin Hasan said that Mirona had not been paid due to technical problems, but assured that she would receive her prize by July 25.
Mohammad Jamrul Islam, who won the men’s marathon, as well as second and third placed Rafiqul Islam and Hanifur Rahman, have all received their money.
