Accidents kills three in two districts

A total of three people were killed in separate accidents in the district of Sirajganj and Jhenaidah in the last two days.

In Sirajganj, an individual was killed on the spot as a train ran over him Wednesday night at Chakshahbajpur village, Kamarkhand upazila.

The dead Siraj Uddin, 35, was son of late Juran Ali of the same village.

Akbar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj railway police station said Siraj was run over by train in the late hours of Wednesday and was killed on the spot. On information, they recovered the pieces of the dead body and sent it for autopsy, he added. A case was lodged in this connection.

Meanwhile in Jhenaidah, two passengers of an easy-bike were killed after an inter-district bus of BRTC collided head on with the bike near Chandpur bus stand on Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway Thursday morning.

However, the identity of the dead could not be known immediately. Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain of Sailkupa police station said the accident took place when a Jessore bound BRTC bus from Rajshahi rammed the easy bike while it was trying to cross the turning near Chandpur bus stand at about 11am.

The bike which was headed towards Sailkupa upazila was levelled to the ground immediately leaving the passengers dead. However, the driver of the bike survived as he was thrown away from the vehicle when the bus hit the bike.

The police, upon information, recovered the dead bodies and sent them to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue. No case was filed with the police until Thursday afternoon according to the OC.
