A mobile court has seized 43 bags of blood collected from “drug addicts and professional donors” from a blood bank from city’s Moghbazar area on Tuesday.
In a drive, the court, supported by members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) 3, also nabbed three persons, two owners of the “Quality Blood” blood bank, and a donor.
AHM Anwar Pasha, an executive magistrate of Dhaka district, conducted the drive at noon.
While talking to journalists, Anwar Pasha said: “Collected blood was taken either from drug addicts or professional donors.”
“We are certain that these bloods were not extracted following proper medical procedures.”
He also said the owners of the blood bank were operating the institution using fraudulent papers.
