As a part of an ongoing film festival, organised by Moviana Film Society with association of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Sunday, four critically acclaimed films will be screened.
The movies are Toukir Ahmed’s “Joyjatra” at 10:30am, Kazi Morshed’s “Ghani” at 3pm, Nurul Alam Atique’s” Dubsatar” at 5pm and Tareque Masud’s “Runway” at 7pm.
“Joyjatra”, a movie based on the Liberation War in 1971 starting with Bipasha Hayat, Azizul Hakim,Mahfuz Ahmed, Abul Hayat and Tariq Anam Khan. The film portrays the famine in the war by showing feeling of the sufferings of people in the catastrophic and thus building the emotionally bonding between different classes.
“Ghani” by Kazi Morshed, represents the misery of underprivileged people living in the rural area of Bangladesh.
Atique’s “Dubsatar” features Joya Ahsan and Shehzad in lead roles. The movie shows the vulnerability of a young and beautiful pregnant lady whose boyfriend got killed.
Late eminent director Tareque Masud’s Runway explores how unemployment and a hopeless future can lead youths to religious extremism through portrayal of a madrassah dropped out young man named Ruhul who lives near the runway of Dhaka’s international airport.
Ruhul’s life changes after meeting Arif who misguided this emotional adolescence who is desperate to meet his means.
Saturday, a discussion session was held on the trends and appreciation on “Contemporary Domestic Films” at the seminar hall of the Academy’s National Theatre Hall.
The key note paper was presented by Prof Fahmidul Haque, presided over by director of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, moderated by Moviana Film Society’s director Belayet Hossain Mamun.
Veteran filmmakers including Murshidul Islam, Syedul Alan Tutul, Kazi Morshed, Enamul Karim Nirjhar, Giasuddin Selim, poet and singer Tokon Thakur and Murad Pervez also participated in the programme.
