Garage is the very first school for training DJs in the country and this unique institution will celebrate its six years journey in the music industry of Bangladesh.
Garage started with a mere 12 students in 2007, but as years went by, the school saw a steady rise in the number of students and now they host more than 200 apprentice.
While talking about his work with Dhaka Tribune, DJ Rahat shares, “Now a day, working as a DJ is easier than before and also very competitive. I think new comers should first develop their skills on music and then face the crowd.
When performing, they should always concentrate on the audience’s demand and learn to read their faces and play music according to their mood. Do not take it as a fashion statement, it is a passion and should be treated accordingly.”
“In Bangladesh, being a DJ is a new trend among the youth. From weddings to birthday parties, open air parties to clubbing, product launch to award ceremonies, all occasions are incomplete without a DJ. An experienced DJ understands his or her crowd and with proper implementation of music that is suited to the crowd’s mood, a DJ has the power to get people crazy on the dance floor.”
