A Chittagong mobile court Sunday sentenced two fake physiotherapists to two years of imprisonment and fined them Tk350,000 each.
The mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha, awarded the punishment to the physiotherapists — Uzzal Kanti Dev and his wife Chitra Sarkar, who own a physiotherapy center named Hathazari Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Center in Golpahar area in the city.
The couple, who have no academic qualifications in physiotherapy, were deceiving patients by calling themselves physiotherapists.
The magistrate said the couple had been using fake academic degrees for a long time.
Uzzal was fined Tk100,000 by the court for his illegal practice earlier.
