Dhaka set to be the hub of South Asian archery

Dhaka is all set to become the hub of the South Asian archery as the Asian Archery Federation (AAF) has given the green signal to the Bangladesh Archery Federation for the project.

Sung -Ho Um, the secretary general of AAF, revealed the fact at the Bangladesh Olympic Association Sunday. “Our plan is to develop the standards of this region where archery have tradition. In the recent years Bangladesh has shown satisfactory level of improvement and we think it can help the neighbouring countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan and also Maldives. AAF will continue to help Bangladesh regarding the project with equipments and technical assistance,” said Sung.

The Korean said it was his second visit to Bangladesh after four years and hoped that Bangladesh will continue to take big steps towards reaching the highest level. “A high-profile Korean coach is in Bangladesh now and I think the archers will be benefitted under his one month coaching. Bangladesh has two important assignments next in Asian Championship and Asian Youth Championship and I wish all the best to the Bangladesh archers,” said the Korean.

Kazi Razibuddin Ahmed Chapal, the general secretary of BAF, said they are looking forward to host the South Asian Championship in December and all the Saff countries will be duly invited. “India is far ahead of us and we, the developing archery countries, need a common platform. I think Dhaka has the potential to be the hub of this region,” said Chapal.
