Four dance productions premiere Sunday

Four new dance productions will be premiered Sunday through a dazzling programme at 6:30pm at the auditorium of Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Renowned four classical dance directors, Belayet Hossain, Deepa Khandaker, Anik Bose and Warda Rihab choreographed these productions. “52 Theke 71” by Belayet Hossain, “Jonmo Theke Mrittu” by Deepa Khandaker, “Abohoman Bangla” by Anik Bose and “Dhaka Amar Dhaka” by Warda Rihab will be stage today. Acclaimed music directors Sujeo Shyam, Alam Khan, Maksud Zamil Mintu and Foad Nasser Babu have, respectively, worked in the productions.

The productions highlight history, cultural heritage and inspiring features of our beloved motherland.

The productions have been produced as part of BSA’s huge project “Deshojo Sangskritir Bikash O Antorjatik Sangskritir Shathe Melbondhon,” (for the prosperity of native culture and its blending with global culture). A total of ten dance productions have been done through this project. The rest six pieces will be staged soon.

Warda Rihab’s “Dhaka Amar Dhaka” a twelve-minute dance production represents the four hundred years history the city which evolved from Dacca to Dhaka. Significant political movements, such as Swadshi movement, language movement and Liberation War have been highlighted in the dance piece. Moreover, the production brings together some of the iconic features of the city like, Tajia procession, monkey dance and more along with the religious and cultural festivals of different communities with different dance forms.
