Signal number three for maritime ports

A strong monsoon deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and adjoining area of Bangladesh. Under its influence squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

In association with rain or thunder showers temporary south-southeasterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Horiyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, west Bengal and thence northeastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extends to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
