Goethe-Institut celebrates summer festival

Goethe-Institut will celebrate summer festival with a slogan “A Year without summer is life without love” today at premises of Goethe-Instut from 2pm to 6pm. In the festival, Goethe-Instut’s library department offers second–hand books and magazines for special sale. There will be a stage programme to celebrate summer that will feature various presentations, including performance of the popular band “Joler Gaan.”    “Joler Gaan” will sing some of their released track, such as “Patar Gaan,”  “Jhora Patar Gaan,” “Dure Thaka Megh,” “Bokul Phul.”  Fans of “Joler Gaan” are in for a treat as the group will perform some of their unreleased track, such as “Horek Ronger Bahare,” “Chondony,” “Sua Jao,” and some other songs, informed chief of the band Rahul Anand to Dhaka Tribune.   The trendy musical group is put together by eight gifted artists and what sets them apart from the crowd is their innovative use of traditional instruments. Rahul Anand, is the lyricist, composer and vocal of the band. Besides, he plays the flute, taraban and dotara.    Kanak Aditya is the lyricist, composer and vocal of the band. Besides, he plays dotara and banjo. Saiful Islam Jarnal sits with a pile of percussion instruments to keep up the tempo and give beauty to the compositions and he is also one of the vocals of the band. Rana Sarwar majorly sits on the cajon to keep up the beat, he also is fluent with percussion, guitar and piano while necessary. Shariful Islam tunes into violin in this band. Sanjay plays the double bass Chandravan. ABS Xem’s guitar and vocal are in action with the group’s performance and Fazlul Kader Chowdhury is the sound engineer.   A talent show for the kids is organised for the benefit of gifted young children and magic show will be presented for the entertainment of active imagination of youngsters.   A baking workshop will take place and later, cakes from the workshop will be showcased for selling. Moreover, do-it-yourself handicraft, face painting, prize for facebook followers of Goethe-Instut and a lot more surprising events will take place at the festival.   The event is an open for all occasion and entry is free.
